Ellen and Jacob’s Polesden Lacey engagement shoot took place in the grounds of Polesden Lacey. There’s nothing lovelier as a wedding photographer, then one of your close friends getting engaged. I was honoured to be asked to photograph their engagement shoot and wedding. Ellen is a historical costume designer at Polesen Lacey, and works there as a volunteer part time. It’s one of her favourite places to be, so it was very fitting that both her and Jacob chose to have their engagement shoot there. Jacob proposed to Ellen here, amoungst the woodland, on the Polesen Lacey grounds, so this location is very special to them.
The autumn colours were absolutely stunning, so we all had a lot of fun choosing some gorgeous backdrops. We also found parts of pillar ruins, just as the sun was starting to set, which looked beautiul next to the couple. When shooting my engagement sessions, I really try to capture the personality of my couples, and what they mean to each other. I always photograph some formal shots, but I LOVE capturing the close up shots of my couples, more than anything, as this shows the couple’s love for one another, and what they mean to each other.
